Q. I applied for a broad swath of jobs because why not? I often get told I’m overqualified. What does it really mean?

A. When you’re told you are overqualified, it could mean you are too old for their taste or want too much money.

We have to be honest about this because these are issues that crop up in the working world every day.

Some companies are afraid you will leave as soon as you find a better job, and we cannot blame them for that because people do that all the time.

The truth is that almost anyone who walks into a job will be overqualified for that job at some point, maybe within a few months. As employers we should be more open to people who look “overqualified” at first glance.
