Liz Ryan is an HR leader, author, coach and public speaker and the architect of the Human Workplace vision for a human-powered, trust-based approach to work and leadership.

As a young HR leader Liz saw the connection between a trust-based, empowering organizational culture and organizational, team and individual success – and resolved to write about, speak about and teach what she observed and experienced to help individuals and organizations connect to their power source and thrive.

Liz ran HR for Chicago manufacturer Recycled Paper Greetings, helping RPG grow from $1M to $300M in sales and then led the HR charge at U.S. Robotics as the company rose from $15M to $3B in annual revenues.

Along the way Liz developed frame-shifting HR, leadership and communication practices she has since taught to hundreds of corporate, institutional and SMB leaders seeking to humanize and energize their organizations.

Liz is a galvanizing public speaker who has addressed over 100 leadership, HR, entrepreneurial and university audiences around the world including the United Nations.

She has written over 5000 articles for Bloomberg Business Week, Yahoo!, Forbes, Kiplinger’s Finance, the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review and other publications and is the beloved advisor to her three million followers, the members of the global Human Workplace community. 

Liz is the creator of over 50 Human Workplace courses and hundreds of informative and motivational eBooks and tools for working people, job candidates, career development pros, students, entrepreneurs, HR folks and leaders.

In live and virtual talks, her Work Related Podcast and the 600,000-subscriber Human Workplace Newsletter, her articles, posts, books and videos Liz teaches working people, career developers, leaders and students how to become more powerful at work and in their lives.

Liz’s consulting clients include IBM, SAP, Amex, Deloitte, GE, Aon, Omnicom, Intuit, Great West Life (now Canada Life), Talemetry and many other organizations from startups and SMBs to global brands.

For her work supporting working people and trust-based organizations Liz has been profiled by Fortune Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, TIME Magazine and other publications; as a media commentator she has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, Fox, WTTW, NPR and BBC Radio.

Liz serves as an expert witness for employment matters and consults with HR execs on talent acquisition and people strategy in a fast-changing, competitive landscape.

Liz is an operatic soprano and attended the Manhattan School of Music. She holds a BS in Management and Marketing from Loyola University of Chicago and an MS in Communication from Northwestern University.

She and her husband have five kids and live in the New York area.
